Due to the high volume of longarming, quilt intakes are currently paused and will resume after June 11th. You may call the shop to be put on a waitlist. I will need your name, phone and the approximate quilt size and will give you a call when your quilt can be dropped off.

Important Instructions
Backing and batting must be at least 8 inches wider & longer than your quilt top (4" on each side, top and bottom).*
No need to trim the selvedge from the edges of your backing.
Please trim threads from quilt top.
Ensure your quilt top is pressed.
Other Information
Glide 40 wt. thread is included.
Batting and backing are not included in the price but are available for purchase at the shop.
*It is highly recommended that you prewash flannel backing.
Quilts are squared up by request, your scraps will be given back to you.
FAQ’s
Q: How big does my backing fabric need to be?
A: Your backing fabric must be at least 8 inches larger than the quilt top to allow for proper loading and quilting.
Q: How big does my batting need to be?
A: Your batting must be at least 6 inches larger than the quilt top to allow for proper loading and quilting.
Q: Do I need to bring my own batting?
A: JQS does offer batting for purchase, but you can bring your own good quality batting if you wish.
Q: Do I need to trim the selvage from the edges of the backing?
A: No, you don't need to trim the selvage from the edges of the backing.
Q: What about my quilt top?
A: Ensure your quilt top is pressed and loose threads are removed.
Q: Do I need to pin or spray baste my quilt?
A: No, you do not need to baste your quilt in any way.
Q: Can you longarm with Minky, Cuddle, Fleece or Fireside?
A: Yes, JQS can longarm with flat Minky, Cuddle, Fleece or Fireside. JQS cannot longarm with Dimple Minky.
Q: Can you longarm with a pieced backing?
A: minimally pieced backing is fine however, there is no guarantee the seams on the back will be completely straight or centered. Ensure that all seams are at ½”, pressed open and free from selvedge.
Q: Can you longarm t-shirt/clothing quilts?
A: Yes, however, the quilt top must be properly interfaced, and it must be free from buttons, rivets, sequins, gemstones, zippers, loose openings or anything that would cause a needle to break.
Q: Do you longarm small projects like a table runner?
A: Yes, the minimum charge is $50. Backing and batting must follow the above guidelines.
