Beginner Quilting with Jennifer - Jelly Roll Twist
In this class you will enjoy learning quilting basics :) We will discuss quilting supplies, fabric types, thread types, batting types, etc. You will learn how to cut the fabric, sew the blocks, baste the quilt, quilting options and binding the quilt.
At the end of this 6 week class, you will have a snuggly lap sized quilt measuring 51" x 60".

General Sewing Supplies
- Sewing Machine in good working order (have a copy of your machine manual handy)
- Sewing Machine foot attachments (a quarter inch foot is highly recommended)
- Extra machine needles (universal size 80/12 or 90/14)
- Bobbins
- Thread for piecing (I recommend 100% cotton 50 weight thread in a neutral colour)
- A fabric marking pen/pencil
- Scissors for snipping thread
- Rotary cutter (45mm)
- Seam ripper
- Straight Pins
- Curved safety pins (approx. 200) or 505 Temporary Fabric Adhesive Spray
- Quilting ruler (6"x24" and an 8.5" or larger square ruler will be handy for this class)
- I do have rulers available at the shop for student use but if you have one, please bring one.
Must have for classes 1-3
- One Jelly Roll (42, 2.5" strips)
- 1 meter of coordinating solid fabric
- 0.5 meters coordinating fabric for binding
- 3 meters regular width, non directional fabric for backing (or 1.5 meters wide backing)
- 1.5 meters quilt batting (56" x 66")
- thread for quilting (should coordinate with your fabric)

A few years ago, she took her first class, and in that class, she realized she had been missing out on quilting for far too many years. Her love for quilting has been fast and furious, she has taken numerous classes and workshops to develop her skills. She has made countless quilts, tote bags, mug rugs, table runners, and placemats etc. In 2021 she began sharing her love of quilting through teaching. |
