Introduction to Collage Quilting - "The Mussel Chorus"
In this one day class Allison will guide you through the basic techniques of collage quilting making your very own Muscle Chorus wall hanging.
Finished size is approx. 12"x24"
What to Bring
General Supplies:
- Sewing Machine in good working order (have a copy of your machine manual handy)
- Sewing Machine foot attachments (a ¼” foot is highly recommended
- Extra machine needles (universal size 80/12 or 90/14)
- Bobbins
- Thread for piecing (I recommend 100% cotton 50 weight thread in a dark neutral colour
- A fabric marking pen/pencil
- Scissors for snipping thread
- Rotary cutter (45mm)
- Seam ripper
- Straight Pins
- Rulers (see project supplies for specifics) I do have a few rulers available at the shop for student use but if you have one, please bring one.
- A pen/pencil & notebook for taking notes
- Dark background fabric - 1 piece approx. 13"x25"
- Backing Fabric - 1 piece approx. 13"x25" (muslin works well)
- Border/Trim - 3, 2" x WOF strips (golds, blues, purples will work well)
- Binding/Facing - 4 squares 4x4 and 75 inches of a 4 inch strip ironed in half (black works best)
- Scissors for cutting through steam a seam, a serrated blade works best
- The Muscles Corus fabric kit includes a selection of fabric and 1/2m of Steam a Seam Lite 2. The kit will be given to you on class day.
You will receive an email with project specific and fabric supply requirements at least 2 weeks before the class.
