Crooked House Wall Hanging with Sheila



The creator of the Crooked House Wall Hanging pattern is now teaching the class! Join Sheila Wooley for two Sundays and get a great start on this beloved Newfoundland classic. Learn the tips and techniques straight from the designer herself while bringing this charming, crooked little house to life. A must-take class for anyone who loves local flair and unique designs. (finished size is 18" x24")

What to Bring

Materials:

  • Fat quarter -Water
  • Fat quarter or 2 large pieces of fabric -House
  • 2-3 fat quarters or scraps -Rock Outcrop
  • Variety of fabric -Roof, Window, Door, Trim, Chimney
  • 0.4 meters-Backing
  • 0.2 meters -Binding (2 -2 ½" strips)
  • Batting-18" x 24"
  • 0.5 meters -Tearaway stabilizer
  • 0.5 meters -Lite Steam a Seam 2
  • Variety of 40 wt. or 50 wt. cotton or polyester thread for quilting and to match your above fabrics

Tools:

  • Permanent marker
  • Small sharp scissors
  • Sewing Machine in good working order (have a copy of your machine manual handy)
  • Sewing Machine foot attachments (a ¼” foot, an open toe foot and a walking foot are required for this class)
  • Extra machine needles (universal size 80/12 or 90/14)
  • Bobbins
  • Rotary cutter (45mm), Seam ripper, Straight Pins
  • Rulers (see project supplies for specifics) I do have a few rulers available at the shop for student use but if you have one, please bring one.
  • A pen/pencil & notebook for taking notes

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Advanced beginner to intermediate - you know how to use your sewing machine, you can sew an accurate 1/4" seam allowance, you have sone some applique and you are comfortable cutting fabric with a rotary cutter and quilting rulers.
Requirements: You must bring your own sewing machine and supplies listed in the class description.
Instructor: Sheila Wooly
Instructor Bio: With over 20 years of quilting experience, Sheila loves sharing her knowledge and passion for the craft. She has taught appliqué and miniature art quilt classes, and her favourite technique is free-motion quilting on small projects. Sheila continues to grow as a quilter by learning from other instructors, taking online classes, and joining informal get-togethers. She truly believes there are endless learning opportunities to explore.
